Movie buffs will be in for a treat this Friday as Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray will clash at the box office. The two stars will battle it out along with the ongoing Vicky Kaushal starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike, which is going steady and holding fort at the box office even after two weeks. Thackeray, a biopic on the Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray, will be Nawazuddin’s first release of the year and the actors fans are naturally excited about the film’s release.
The launch of Thackeray trailer created quite a stir with its anti-South Indian sentiments and provocative dialogues. While many were against the idealogies of Balasaheb Thackeray, there are scores of others who resonate similar thoughts as the late leader. Among celebrities, superstar Amitabh Bachchan was present at the teaser launch of the film and had said that he and Bal Thackeray had shared a special bond.
According to a report in Times Now, he opened up about his acquaintance with the late Indian political leader, Balasaheb Thackeray. He talked about how Balasaheb stood by his side in the times of difficulty. Amitabh revealed about the time he went into a critical state while shooting for ‘Coolie’. He was rushed to Mumbai where the weather was against him and no ambulance could reach to pick him up. This was when Bal Thackeray came to his rescue and provided him with a Shiva Sena ambulance. The actor said in a statement, “Balasaheb helped me when I needed it most. If it had not been for him, I would not have been alive today.”
